“I don’t know.”

It’s such a hard thing to say, isn’t it? Especially when you’re someone who loves helping others — and even more so when it’s part of your job. We all want to have the answers. But the truth is, none of us can know everything. Spending time at Bridging Innovation, hosted by the WV Entrepreneurship Ecosystem, reminded me how powerful it is to be surrounded by people who are all working to make West Virginia stronger, more connected, and full of opportunity. And here’s the best part — now, when someone comes to the Chamber with a question, and I have to say “I don’t know”… I can immediately follow it up with:

“But I DO know who you should talk to.”

Whether you have an idea and don’t know how to start a business... Or you already have one and want to grow... Or you’re hitting a roadblock and need guidance... Or you’re ready to retire and wondering how to pass your business on... I can help you find the person who does know exactly how to take the next step. I’ll be working on a resource page for our website, but in the meantime — please, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to help connect you and share what I've learned.

A huge thank-you to everyone who made Bridging Innovation such a fantastic experience — from the pre-conference sessions to the mind-blowing Pitch Competitions yesterday. From middle schoolers to college students to adults, every single pitch was inspiring. (Yes, I did nearly cry during more than one of them. And yes, I did have to sit on my hands to avoid pulling out my own checkbook... ) And one of the artists who pitched? They’re going to be a vendor at the Apple Butter Festival, WV this year!

So thank you to Amber, Tara, Jennifer, Mark, and all the amazing folks who made this happen. Thank you to everyone who showed up ready to share what they know. And thank you for reminding me that "I don't know" doesn't have to be the end of the sentence — it can be the start of a connection.

And now... I’m happy to be back home in Morgan County. Because there really is no place like it. ❤️
